Cities of Legend and Magic

What cities do you want to visit?

Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Edinburgh, Vienna, Herculaneum, Cairo and Karnak, Athens and Kalamata…

There are so many cities in Europe I would love to visit, to stay in, to live in and just walk in the streets of history and legend. I have visited some of these places before, and would drop anything in a heartbeat to go back.

Herculaneum is one that technically is not a functional city but more like a ruined city victim of Vesuvius a few km from Pompeii, but I was able to visit it a few years ago. I found it so fascinating to walk amongst the buried ruins of an ancient city. It felt like I could hear the echoes of the last, seen streets and walls and frescoes and buildings untouched by the modern world.

Rothenburg ob der Tauber

Rothenburg is a walled city unaffected by the horrors of war and basically its still as medieval as ever with the modern commodities added in. The old medieval wall surrounds the city and between the Christmas store and the middle age aesthetic, I would love to spend at least a year there as I begin to learn German. Honestly, all German cities carry some magic that I hold dear to my heart, Koblenz, Cologne , and the towns of Bavaria… I’m in love with Germany.

The other cities each have something about them that I wish I could just explore and get to know. To go on a morning walk amongst the streets of Edinburgh, to listen to classical music while dining in Vienna, to explore temples in Egypt, or relax with the Mediterranean in the background in Greece…

I wish I had to money to travel to all these places.
